Randel Simmons Monday April 10, 1933 ? Saturday January 31, 2015 (age 81) Ferndale, Florida Mr. Randel Simmons of Ferndale, Florida passed away Saturday January 31, 2015, He was 81. Randel was born April 10, 1933 in Coffee County Alabama to Elzie and Odel Simmons. One of 9 children, he was preceded in death by; His brother Harvey, Sister Eunice, Brother Bobby, and Brother Robert. He leaves behind his sister Syble, Sister Becky, Brother Hubert, and Sister Margaret. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the 501st Airborne Infantry from 1953 to 1955. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class and received a Good Conduct Medal. He married the love of his life Thedis Simmons on Saturday April 28, 1956 in Kingston Georgia. They were married 57 years when Thedis was called to her celestial home on Sunday June 30, 2013. Together they have 2 children Tammy (Guy) Modesitt and Rick (Judith) Simmons. 5 Grand Children: Dustin Modesitt, Kirsten Modesitt, Anya Modesitt, Della Hanks, and Gary Johnston. 4 Great Grand Children: Kaitlyn Hanks, Sydney Hanks, Morgan Johnston, and Eric Robichaux. One Great Great Grandson: Sylas Murillo. The eldest Grandchild Brandon Guy Modesitt preceded him in death in 1993. Randel was a kind man with a gentle heart and an honest soul who took care of his family, they were always his priority. Randel lived in Ferndale for 47 years, where he raised his family. He was a member of the Ferndale Baptist Church. Randel was a retired welder. He worked for Heller Brother's Groves, Orlando Paving Company, Ollie Arthur Trucking, Mikey Spreader works, and Walt's Welding. After he retired, he continued to do odd jobs to keep himself active. He and his fellow retires enjoyed the simple life of Ferndale. He really enjoyed hanging out at the Montverde General Store where they were affectionately known as the Stumps. Randel was the last of the 'Stumps' to pass from this world.



Visitation and Funeral Service The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Ferndale Baptist Church in Ferndale Florida beginning at 11:00 AM Eastern and continue until service time. Funeral Services will begin at Noon in the Chapel at the Ferndale Baptist Church, Burial will follow in the Ferndale Cemetery. Randel will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Thedis and their grandson Brandon Modesitt. The family will receive friends the same day following the Cemetery services at the Ferndale Baptist Church's Fellowship Hall. Reverend Gordon 'Bird' Sanders will be leading the Services
