Obituary
Phyllis Helen Teresa Minns Scott, 86, of Clermont, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 21, 2017. She passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her husband and children. She was born in the Bahamas on the small island of Exuma & moved to the United States after marrying her beloved husband, Edwin Lee Scott.
Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a woman of great faith and was an active member in her church, Hiawassa Bible Chapel. Tirelessly serving others, she offered her time, her home and her love to her family, church and anyone in need. She worked in missions, Ladies Bible Studies, and other outreach ministries.
She was a fantastic homemaker and was especially gifted in the kitchen. She was also an expert seamstress and baker, including making wedding cakes for several years. In addition to all these talents, she was an author and published her autobiography of her life growing up in the Bahamas during the depression and WWII. She grew up with no running water or electricity in an island paradise. She was a true Island Girl!
Phyllis had a deep appreciation for all of God's creation. She was conserving the earth's resources and recycling even before it was "cool". She especially loved birds and flowers, the ocean and the mountains. She tastefully decorated her home year-round but especially over the holidays. She enjoyed doing this and entertaining with a passion. Her home was warm and welcoming to all.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edwin Scott; children Craig; Grant (wife Renee), Clare (husband Mike) Conner & Eileen Volosin; grandchildren Weston (wife Tabitha) Scott, Kyle (wife Heather) Scott, Clay Conner & Ryan & Robert Volosin; great-granddaughters Penelope, Annabelle & Cassidy & siblings Eileen Mabon & Basil & Douglas Minns.
Burial was in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The Memorial Service for Phyllis Scott will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Hiawassa Bible Chapel, 1900 N. Hiawassee Rd, Orlando, FL.
