Obituary

Peter Bernardo Moreno was born August 25, 1923 in Key West Florida. His family moved to Miami when he was 5. He was one of 8 children; he had 6 brothers and 1 sister. After graduating from Miami Jackson High School he worked for a local furniture store and then for Amaco Oil driving a tanker truck. Then WW II started and he enlisted in the Navy to become a seal. Peter was married to Hazel Elizabeth for 46 years until her death on March 18, 1999. He raised 2 children (preceded before him) and 1 granddaughter, Linda, that he thought of as his daughter. They moved to Clayton Georgia from 1976-1982 and then he and Hazel returned to Monteverde Fl, to be closer to their family, Linda, Rod and their great grandson Brad; and then to Clermont, in Cherry Knoll and lived there till his passing. He was a faithful volunteer for a number of years at the FAITH Neighborhood Center, at both locations in Clermont and in Groveland . Pete was a long standing member of Clermont Kiwanis until his health no longer permitted him to continue. He is survived by his daughter and her husband Linda and Rod McDougal of Clermont, his grandson Brad and wife Tracy and their twin children Tyler and Caleigh of Orlando along with 3 other granddaughters and their spouses and 7 great grand children and 8 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother in Miami, Angelo and many nieces and nephews. Pete passed away at Health Central Hospital on March 5, 2015 at 3:40 am with family at his side. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:30 am at the South Lake Christian Church, 19455 Villa City Road, Groveland (CR 565). All are welcome. In lieu of flowers the family has requested a donation be made to: FAITH Community Center or Clermont Kiwanis Foundation or South Lake Christian Church Youth Foundation
