Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Stampes was born in Sherman, Texas, to James and Dovie Griffin. A deeply proud Texan throughout her life, her early years were shaped by her father's work in the aircraft industry, which took the family across the country. By the time she finished fourth grade, she had already lived in six different locations from San Diego, CA to northern Maine. She completed her schooling in Arlington, TX at Sam Houston High School, growing up in a structured, strict household alongside her beloved siblings.

In April 1971, Pat achieved her greatest milestone when she became a mother to her twin sons, Brett and Bradley. Whether she was working as a hair and nail cosmetologist, serving as a daycare director, managing property in Grand Prairie, or running Stampes Enterprise, she always put her family first. Beyond her daily work, Pat was a passionate breast cancer survivor whose personal experience inspired her to become a fierce advocate for other survivors. Recognizing a deep need for support and awareness, she went on to found the National Breast Implant Association to guide and protect women nationwide.

Pat was a warm, independent-minded, and exceptionally elegant woman who brought vibrant, contagious joy to everything she touched. Notorious for her sharp wit, she insisted on only receiving medical care provided by "board certified" professionals. She was an artist at heart, creating beautiful stained glass, needlework, and paintings. To know Pat was to know her incredible hospitality. Long before it was a trend, she was famous for creating elaborate hosting spreads and charcuterie boards. Her kitchen was often filled with the aromas of corn soufflé, her legendary Jell-O Coke salad, or her signature chicken piccata. She dressed elegantly "to the nines" even for the simplest outings, and her home was always surrounded by her favorite purple orchids.

She spent most of her teen and adult life in Texas, which is where her heart forever remained, although she spent some time in Florida, as well as the state of Washington, before living the last year and a half of her life in Clermont, Florida where she had just moved to so she could spend time with both her sons and her two grandchildren. She passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dovie Griffin, her husband, Steve Stampes, and her brother, Billy Griffin. Her legacy of strength, resilience, and unconditional love is carried on by her family: her twin sons, Bradley Hilliard-Lythgoe (and husband JD Lythgoe-Hilliard) of Clermont, Florida, and Brett Hilliard (and wife Claire) of Clermont, Florida; and her two dearly loved grandchildren, Tristan and Riley, who always held a sacred and permanent place in her heart.

She is also survived by her siblings: Linda Gray, Martha Carter, Barbara Ruthart, Pam Browne, Teresa Boudreau, and Phil Prestridge; her nephew Jimmy Don Harvell; her niece JoRita Harvell, with whom she shared a beautiful bond and talked frequently; and a large, loving extended family alongside countless lifelong friends she gathered along her journey.
