Obituary

Ovila "Ray" Coutu, Jr. of Clermont, Florida passed peacefully after a short illness.  Ray was born in Rhode Island, where he lived until moving his family to Charlotte, NC in 1982.  After living in Charlotte, he then moved to Florida where he lived until his passing.

Music was his passion.  He was Frank Sinatra's biggest fan.  He sang with a karaoke group in Clermont for many years, entertaining at various nursing homes in the Clermont area. He was also a golfer and pool player.

Ray received his education in textile chemistry and dyeing from the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island School of Design.  He retired from Hoechst Celanese (formerly American Hoechst Corporation), where he began working at 14 years old.  His father, Ovila Raymond Coutu, Sr. also retired from American Hoechst Corporation in Coventry, Rhode Island.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ovila Raymond Coutu, Sr. and Anita (nee Raymond) Coutu.  Beloved husband of wife, Ellen of Clermont, FL, he is also survived by his three daughters, Cheryl Coutu of Franklin, NC; Denise Nagel of Sterling, CT and Trisha Riesmeyer of Charlotte, NC.  Grandfather of 7 and Great Grandfather of 10.  Ray was preceded in death by great granddaughter, Addie Marie Nagel.

Becker Funeral Home is handling Ray's cremation, with no services at Ray's request.
