Omaira "Ama" Brand

Omaira Brand, affectionately known as "Ama," passed away peacefully at her home in Clermont, Florida, on July 7, 2025, at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her nine loving children.

Born in Cali, Colombia, Omaira lived a life rooted in strength, faith, and devotion to family. In 1972, at the age of 36, she bravely moved to New York City with her nine children in search of a better life. There, she watched them grow, thrive, and fulfill the American dream she so deeply believed in.

She shared 69 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Moisés Brand. Together, they built a strong and loving family, united by faith, hard work, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her beloved children:

Maria del Carmen, Luz Marina, Javier Moises, Diego Leon, Fernando Antonio, Monica Teresa, Victor Mario, Miguel Angel, and Jose Mauricio.

She was a proud grandmother to sixteen grandchildren and a great-grandmother to seventeen great-grandchildren. Omaira is also survived by her dear brother, Emigdio Valencia.

To those who knew her, Ama was a guiding light—faith-filled, compassionate, resilient, and wise. She welcomed everyone with warmth, humor, and grace. She was the heart of our family and truly our angel on earth. Her love, strength, and spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Omaira Brand, cariñosamente conocida como "Ama," falleció en paz en su hogar en Clermont, Florida, el 7 de julio de 2025, a la edad de 89 años. Estuvo rodeada del amor de sus nueve hijos en sus últimos momentos.

Nacida en Cali, Colombia, Omaira vivió una vida marcada por la fe, la fortaleza y la dedicación a su familia. En 1972, a los 36 años, emigró valientemente a la ciudad de Nueva York junto a sus nueve hijos en busca de una vida mejor. Allí vio cómo crecieron, se superaron y alcanzaron el sueño americano que ella tanto anhelaba.

Estuvo felizmente casada durante 69 años con el amor de su vida, Moisés Brand, con quien construyó una hermosa familia basada en el amor, el respeto y la fe.

Le sobreviven sus amados hijos:

María del Carmen, Luz Marina, Javier Moisés, Diego León, Fernando Antonio, Mónica Teresa, Víctor Mario, Miguel Ángel y José Mauricio.

Fue una orgullosa abuela de dieciséis nietos y diecisiete bisnietos. También le sobrevive su querido hermano, Emigdio Valencia.

Para quienes la conocieron, Ama fue una luz en la vida—llena de fe, trabajadora, compasiva y sabia. Recibía a todos con una sonrisa cálida, un ingenio especial y un corazón generoso. Fue el pilar de nuestra familia y nuestro ángel en la tierra. Su amor y presencia dejarán un vacío imposible de llenar.
