Carmen Olga Papagiannis of Seminole, Florida, passed away on February 19, 2026, at age 87.
Carmen Olga Papagiannis was born on February, 5, 1939, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, to the proud parents Bernardo Larracuente and Carmen Torres and was one of nine siblings.
Olga married in 1962 to Nikolaos “Nick” Papagiannis in Brooklyn, NY. Olga’s first born, Ioanis “John” was born in 1967 and later the young family moved from Brooklyn to Hicksville, Long Island. Olga’s second child, Paraskevi “Peggy” was born in 1973. Olga loved motherhood, and as a woman ahead of her time, she balanced motherhood with her career. Olga worked as a Mechanical Assembler of Military Aircraft components for Motor Magnetics in Long Island, NY. Olga also worked alongside her husband at the Windjammer Restaurant, a restaurant they owned and managed in Northport, Long Island. Olga’s passion was her family, and she loved hosting family dinners, children’s birthday parties, and family vacations in Puerto Rico, Greece, and Canada. The family then moved to Plainview, Long Island, and the children attended middle school and high school. Olga was also a cherished sister and Titi to many beloved nieces and nephews.
Soon Olga’s children grew up and started families of their own. Olga’s son, John, married Susan Virone from NYC in 1996 and they moved to New Jersey. Olga’s daughter, Peggy, married John Cannova from Long Island in 1998. Olga became a grandmother with the birth of her first grandchild, Emily, to John and Susan Papagiannis in 2003. More grandchildren came, with the birth of her first grandson, John, to Peggy and John Cannova in 2005. Peggy and John had two more children, Alexandra and Christopher, in 2008 and 2010, respectively.
Olga was always a very proud sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. She loved to share the accomplishments of her grandchildren and children.
Olga is survived by her children John Papagiannis (Susan) and Peggy Cannova (John), her grandchildren Emily Papagiannis and John Nicholas, Alexandra, and Christopher Cannova. Mom, we love you, we miss you. You will always be in our hearts now and forever.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 11am until 1pm, at Becker Funeral Home, 801 West Minneola Avenue, Clermont, Florida. A Graveside Servie will follow at 1pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Clermont.
