Obituary

Norris Leslie Hutchingson went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2013, at his home in Clermont, Florida. Hutch was born December 18, 1932, to Agnes and Leslie Hutchingson in Ferndale, Florida. Hutch is survived by Donna, his wife of sixty years, and three children, daughters Valorie Sierens and Terry Dykehouse, Clermont, son-in-law Steve Sierens, son Robert Hutchingson and daughter-in-law, Trish, Ponte Vedra Beach, six grandchildren, Carlie Sullivan and Brandon, Robert Goldhouse and Kate, Clinton Dykehouse and Hannah, Christopher Hutchingson, US Marine Corp, Michal Sierens, and Lauren Hutchingson, two great grandchildren Benjamin and Micah Sullivan, and two nieces Sharon Dame and Linda Asbury. He attended a one-room school in Ferndale through eighth grade and then attended and graduated from Clermont High School in 1950. Upon graduation, he worked for the Federal State Inspection Service inspecting fruits and vegetables in the southern states and in Ohio. Hutch was drafted into the US Army in 1952, during the time of the Korean War. Before deployment to Germany, he married Donna Simms on December 20, 1952. After discharge from the Army, they returned to Clermont where he worked at Clermont Hardware for several years. In 1964, he was offered a job with Dixie Lime & Stone Company as a salesman. He attended Polk Junior College for two years studying soil and citrus. During this time he was very active in the community. He served as President on the City Council of Clermont, Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis. He was also a member of the South Lake Development Corporation, Lake County Safety Council, Elks Club, VFW, South Lake Waterways, City of Clermont Volunteer Fire Department, Clermont Dad' Club and served on the Lake County Jury Commission. As a Jaycee he cooked bar-b-que chicken for the annual Labor Day celebration for many years. In 1968 Hutch took a job with Florida Favorite Fertilizer and was a salesman as well as Vice President in charge of the Mount Dora facility. In 1986 he accepted a job with Howard Fertilizer and Chemical Company in Orlando, Florida. He continued to be a top salesman with that company until the present. Over the 50 plus years in the business, Hutch' customers became life-long friends and many became his hunting and fishing partners. He served several generations of families, selling to the grandfathers, sons, and then the grandsons. Hutch and Donna are long time members of First United Methodist Church of Clermont where he served on the Board of Trustees.



A service to celebrate Hutch's life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 950 7th Street, Clermont, Florida 34711, on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Clermont Building Fund, or Cornerstone Hospice.
