IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norma Ives
Kinker
December 1, 1929 – December 30, 2020
Norma Ives Kinker, Ocoee, FL, age 91, passed away on December 30, 2020 with her family surrounding her. She was born on December 1, 1929 in Tampa, Florida. She married the love of her life, Carl Kinker, on December 10, 1950 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in West Palm Beach, FL.
She was the daughter of William F. Ives, a commander in the U.S. Navy and Jennie E. (Fremd) Ives, a devoted mother. She spent much of her youth in Palm Beach where her family were pioneers. Her grandfather William F. Fremd came to Palm Beach in 1893 with Henry Flagler where they helped oversee the grounds of Flagler's Breakers, Whitehall, and Poinciana Hotels. Norma enjoyed the properties and their gardens where her grandfather was a horticulturist. She graduated from Palm Beach High School and attended Palm Beach Junior College where she met her beloved husband. She was a long-standing member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Clermont, FL.
After marriage she became a devoted military wife traveling across the world and raising four children. As a military family they enjoyed living and visiting Morocco, Panama, Hawaii, Alaska, and other parts of the United States. The family retired in Orlando, Florida where her husband was last stationed. She supported the family in self-owned businesses as a bookkeeper. She later went to work for the City of Orlando, Beardall Senior Center, supporting the administration. She retired in 1994 to enjoy the most important part of her life, her family. They later moved to Clermont, Florida where they continued to enjoy their family but met many dear friends too. She loved to play games with her family especially old maid, UNO, and scrabble, but most of all she was an avid mahjong player.
All who knew Norma would say the very same thing, she was the kindest, sweetest, and most loving person you would ever meet. Her faith was unmatched, and her life was devoted to serving God. She loved being surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her most treasured blessing was her family.
She is predeceased by her husband Carl and survived by her children Stephen (Mi Young) of Seoul, Korea, Michael (Ane), Ocoee, FL, Jeffrey (Jackie), Mooresville, NC and Pamela Giessuebel (Tom), Ocoee, FL and grandchildren Valerie Kinker, Winter Springs, FL, Angelique Kinker, Winter Park, FL, Christine Kinker Glomazic (Stefan), Washington, D.C., Diana Kinker (Youssef Zaki), Silver Springs, MD, Jeremy Kinker (Sara), Dallas, TX, Jillian Campbell (Cody), Mooresville, NC, Thomas Giessuebel, Jr. (Brianna), Oakland, FL, Peyton Giessuebel, Ocoee, FL, Jenna Kinker, Chattanooga, TN and great grandchildren Ivan Chacon, Zova, Jovan and Carla Glomazic, Jonathan Zaki, and CJ and Paisley Campbell.
Carl and Norma Kinker were a devoted military family, any donations can be made in their name to Operation Homefront.
