Nita B. Campbell of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, Florida at the age of 83.  She was born November 24, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama.  Nita was the fourth of five children of William Austin Bryan, Sr. and Elizabeth Amanda Franklin.  She attended high school in Crestview, FL where she was a drum majorette.  After graduation she began her career as the local weather girl, also receiving her pilot's license.  After WWII, at a young age, she married Douglas L. Campbell, of Crestview whom she was married to for 52 years until he preceded her in death.  Nita travelled with her husband and family around the world in his 32 year military career.  Nita has been a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she and her husband served three fulltime missions, Papua New Guinea; the Australian Outback, and in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands.  Nita was an accomplished artist, well versed in all media.  Her home and her children's homes are filled with paintings and sculptures that she has created.  Upon her husband's retirement, they bought a private plane to continue their traveling.  With the subsequent loss of her husband's voice, Nita had to renew her private pilot's license at the age of 62, so she could be "the voice" on the radio.  In her golden years she enjoyed traveling to visit her family, especially her grandchildren.  She is survived by her son, William Douglas Campbell of Oak Hill, Virginia; daughters Rita Foxford of Clermont, Florida and Janet Campbell of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, grandchildren; Christy, Melissa and Brianna Campbell and Doug and Colton Foxford; Sisters, Nina Scuderi and Myrtle Pruitt.



Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 339 Lake Drive, NW, Ft. Walton Beach, FL at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011.  Burial will follow immediately in Beal Memorial Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to Cornerstone Hospice, Mike Conley House, 2100 Oakley Seaver Drive, Clermont, Florida  34711.
