Our beloved Muhittin Sami Uckan passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday July 11th, 2023 in Clermont, Florida. He was surrounded by his family that adored him and will be eternally missed.

Sami was a proud Turkish born gentleman who shared the love of his culture, food and language with so many friends and family throughout his life. He was born in a small village in Turkey that was rich in olive groves and grape vineyards and lived the American dream with an amazing wife and children. His curiosity and zest for knowledge afforded all of them a lifetime of amazing family memories filled with love and laughter. Sami was born in Kilis, Turkey and came to the U.S. in 1953 to attend university. While studying at the University of Alabama he met the love of his life Elizabeth Hope Williams and the rest, they say "Is History". They married in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and recently shared their 65th wedding anniversary on June 23rd, a true testament to finding the love of your life.

Sami worked as a design engineer for Farberware and Standard Motors in New York City and went on to enjoy a career in the music industry at Atlantic Records. After retiring from Atlantic, Hope and Sami moved to Florida. During their 40 years of living in New York, they were active members of many Turkish American organizations and were always ready to help out with any and all functions and social activities. A master of many talents, Sami had an incredible ability to fix anything and spent his life doing so lovingly, with a smile, laughing and teaching anyone he could along the way. He was especially proud of the recording studio he built from the ground up at their home on Long Island. Sami walked through his entire life with an open hand and heart to anyone who needed it and will be incredibly missed by all that were graced by his kindness. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, an amazing father, a beloved brother, a proud son and cherished friend. Rest in Peace sweet Sami.

Sami is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Elizabeth Hope Uckan, his esteemed son Erol, beloved daughter in law Lisa and devoted daughter Eda. He was preceded in death by his distinguished father Muhittin and mother Fahriye Uckan, his brothers Edip and Nihat and sister Meserret Tuncer.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday August 4th, at 6pm at Becker Funeral Home, 806 W. Minneola Avenue, Clermont, Fl, 34711.
