Moises Brand

November 11, 1924 - February 5, 2021

Moises Brand, age 96, of Clermont, Florida passed away on February 5, 2021.

He was born on November 11, 1924 in Cali, Colombia, where he lived and grew up working the sugar cane fields. In 1942 he started learning what would make him a great jeweler until 1968 when he left his place of birth.

At the age of 44, he came to the United States, leaving behind his wife and 9 children. His dream was to make enough money to return to his home country and provide for his family. Things did not go as planned. Instead, he ended up bringing his whole family to New York City in 1972 where they all grew up and were able to achieve the American dream.

He established his business as a jeweler in New York City and later in Miami until retirement at the ripe age of 70. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, soccer player, hunter and fisherman. On his 80 th birthday, he started writing a book about his life; 5 years later, he completed a book about his life's journey. His appetite for knowledge and technology drove him to ask for a computer to transcribe his notes and be able to complete and print his memoir.

Moises is survived by Omaira, his beloved wife of 67 years. Loving children: Maria del Carmen, Luz Marina, Javier Moises, Diego Leon, Fernando Antonio, Monica Teresa, Victor Mario, Miguel Angel, and Jose Mauricio. He was a devoted grandfather of sixteen loving grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.  Also survived by his brother Gerardo, and two sisters, Leonor and Ida.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 15th at 11:00 am, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Clermont.
