Mitsuo Matsunaga, 68, Clermont, Fl passed away at home on Saturday, December 18, 2010. Mr. Matsunaga was born on November 9, 1942 in Manzanar, CA. After 32 years of government service Mitsuo retired as Director of Training for the Civilian Personnel Operations Management Agency, Department of Army, and moved to Clermont in May of 2004 from Abingdon, MD.Mr. Matsunaga was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont, where he served in various ministries including: The Knights of Columbus, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Sacristan, and Catechist for RCIA, as well as a member of the Pastoral Council. He is survived by his wife Julia Elizabeth Matsunaga of Clermont, Florida, son Mathew N. and daughter in-law Julie of Carlisle, PA, sisters Dorothy Kobashi (Elmer), Sally Maresh (Joe), Toshiko Horio (Seiji), sister-in-law Martha Federle, Amy Everson (John),brothers-in-law Bill Federle (Wilma), Fred Federle, Phil Federle (Taffy), Steve Federle (Nancy), and Rob Federle (Maria) He is predeceased by his parents Niichi and Yoshiko Matsunaga; brother Kenji Matsunaga and sisters Nancy Yagi (former spouse of Ben Yagi) and Sayeko Kurisu (spouse of Sam Kurisu) and niece Arlene Hayashi.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont, Florida, with celebrant, The Very Reverend Father Robert Webster.Visitation and rosary service were held at Becker Family Funeral Home Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Mr. Matsunaga was taken to Page Funeral Home in Selma, CA for further services beginning at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, December 30, 2010, and interment immediately following at the Selma Cemetery.
