Milton "Bud" Edward Longworth, 83, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Wilson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia after a valiant fight against Leukemia. His loving and devoted wife, Sylvia was with him when he passed.
Bud was born on August 18, 1934 in Washington, D.C., the son of Milton and Ruth (Mamber) Longworth. He served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War. On March 17, 1952 he was united in marriage to Alva "Joan" Pearce in Rockville, MD. They were married for 59 years and had four children. After Joan's death in 2011, Bud married Sylvia McDade in 2013.
A central Florida resident since 1968, Bud spent much of his time volunteering in youth sports, playing golf and enjoying time with friends and family. He retired from Walt Disney World in 2002 and devoted his time caring for his wife, Joan and occasionally arranging and playing in golf tournaments. Bud was also a baseball fanatic and loved to be anywhere near or involved in a game, whether as a coach, umpire or fan. In his final years, Bud enjoyed spending time with his wife Sylvia at their cabin in the mountains of Blairsville, Georgia.
Bud will be lovingly missed and forever remembered by his wife, Sylvia; his children, Kimberly Ann (George) Engilis, Clermont; Gregory Scott (Ann) Longworth, Great Mills, MD; step-son Shane (Tonya) Hatcher, Baconton, GA; Greg Hatcher, Leesburg, GA; his fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he is
preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Kay Reynolds.
The memorial service for Bud will be held at Becker Funeral Home on December 11, 2017 at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Chancellor will officiate. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the Green Valley Neighborhood Clubhouse, 8831 Village Green Blvd., Clermont, FL 34711. A private service and inurnment will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL., on 12 December 2017.
