Michael Louis Smargiassi, 84, Clermont, passed away March 7, 2014 at South Lake Hospital. He was born September 29, 1929 in Bronx, NY son of Incornata Cinquino & Nicholas Smargiassi. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On September 18, 1954 he was united in marriage to Frances Gloria Douglass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Bronx. He was a retired Flight Engineer and Pilot, retiring from Delta Airlines, and was a member and former secretary & treasurer of National Airlines Buccaneers Club. A South Florida resident from Fort Lauderdale area since 1956, he was a Clermont resident since 1982. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Surviving is his wife Frances; children Cathline (Andrew) Cohen, Oakdale, NY; Deborah Smargiassi & Michele (John) Horn all of Clermont; Nicholas Smargiassi, Auburn, WA & Cynthia (John) Schwarz, Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, & sisters Ann (Salvatore) Sgarlata, Bronx & Rose (Anthony) Miserendino, Hicksville, NY.



Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Smargiassi will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, celebrated by Reverend Roy Eco.
