Obituary

Michael Joseph Salvitti, passed away at Quality Health Care on April 13, 2012, after a long struggle with lymphoma. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Juliette Bouchard.

Mike was a good Christian man and walked with the Lord daily. Born is Philadelphia PA, March 25, 1942, Mike left his 'Yankee roots' at 17, and moved to Miami, FL, where he met and was informally adopted by his loving 'mother' Juliette Bouchard. He attended truck driving school before being drafted into the Army in 1966 to serve in the Vietnam War. He obtained the rank of Sergeant and received multiple accolades for his military service.

Mike and Julie worked with the elderly and Veterans in providing home care facilities. They provided a warm and loving environment for both men and women, while Mike continued to maintain his profession as an in-state truck driver.

Moving to Clermont in 2004, he quickly gained the unofficial title of "Mayor of Hartwood Pines" as he was so generous with his talents and friendship to his neighbors. Most notably, his confidants and friends, Rose Gutierrez and Felix Velazquez, who were by his side daily in his struggles with cancer. In addition, he leaves behind his neighbor and friend of over forty years, James 'Jimmy' Fraser.

Mike is survived by his remaining family members: Brother, Don Bouchard, College Station, TX.  Nieces: Ruth Southworth, Alexandria, VA and Debra Karpchuk, Cutler Ridge, FL and grand-nieces & nephew, Michelle Harris, Katie Karpchuk and Jarrett Alviar, and other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, as Mike had a passion for animals, we feel it appropriate to request your donations/sympathies be sent to the South Lake Animal League at 4648 Baptist Island Rd, Groveland FL 34736, a non-profit, no-kill shelter on Mike's behalf.
