Michael William Morris, 70 died Monday March 11 at the Hospice House in Clermont Florida of lung cancer. He leaves his Sisters Patricia and Deborah Wisne (Joe) , is brothers John (Judy), Don, Steve and Greg (Amanda) , his nieces Colleen Krebs (Bill) , Emily, Madelyn and Delaney, and his nephews Robert (Diane) , Peter (Jennifer) and Lee and several close friends. Born in Royal Oak Michigan and raised in nearby Birmingham, the son of Carl and Mary Jayne Morris, he was a long time resident of Florida. After graduating from Birmingham High School in 1963 Mike attended Port Huron Junior college and the University of Michigan until he was drafted by the U.S. Army. He served for 3 years in Korea in the 1st Battalion 9th Infantry along the Demilitarized Zone, rising to the rank of Sargent. After his service, Mike returned to Michigan where he worked for Brachs candy before starting a gas station business. He moved to Florida in 1971. For the next 34 years he was in the automobile and recreational vehicle business in Florida in various sales, service and management roles winning several awards for achievement and excellence. He retired in 2005, and enjoyed working part time at first Green Bank of Clermont. A real patriot, Mike enjoyed American History, politics as well as carpentry and travel, but his passion was his family. He was a strong and supportive son, brother and uncle never forgetting a birthday and always there when help, an attentive ear or a shoulder to cry on was needed. A service will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Tuesday, March 17th at 12:30 PM.
