Michael (Mike) P. Matherne, 70 passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at his home in Davenport, FL.

Mike was born on July 8, 1951 in Houma, LA to Roy and Kitty Matherne. He graduated  Vandebilt Catholic High School in 1969. He attended Nicholls State University from 1969-1970. He served in the Army National Guard from 1970-1976. He married Elba Valdes on August 12, 1972 in Houma. He started a career in home building which led to Mike's Home Service. After moving with his family to Florida, he had a successful career with Anheuser-Busch Companies (Baseball City, Sea World, Discovery Cove, and Aquatica). He retired as a Security Captain in 2004. He was involved in the Central Florida Woodturners, a head usher with Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a Board Member of Regal Ridge at Deer Creek Golf Community. He also enjoyed flying single engine planes and playing golf.

Mike is preceded in death by Roy P. Matherne (father), Peggy Huval (sister) and Kitty Davis (mother).

Mike is survived by his wife Elba, his daughter Jennifer, his son Kent and wife Jamie, his brother Peter and wife Mary, his granddaughters Rebecca, Makayla, Katherine and grandson Cody.

A visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home at 9:30 am located at 806 West Minneola Ave in Clermont, FL.  A mass will be held at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 720 12 ^th Street, Clermont, FL.
