Michael Crawford

1942 - 2024

Michael Elon Crawford, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 with his family
by his side. He was born on December 26, 1942, in Potsdam, NY to Elon and Virginia Crawford. Mike
grew up in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine where he graduated from Foxcroft Academy, class of 1961. He
also went on to graduate from Ricker College, class of 1965, as a student-athlete who lettered in
baseball, basketball, and soccer.

Mike's illustrious career in education and coaching spanned six decades, marked by multiple state
championships and numerous student success stories. He began his career in 1966 at Jonesport
High School, where he led his basketball team to a state championship. In 1968, he joined the
faculty at Madawaska High School where he taught and coached baseball and basketball for 24
years, winning a state championship with his 1988 baseball team.

In 1970, Michael married Joyce Eileen Andrews. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together, raising
their two sons Kyle and Aaron in Madawaska before moving to Clermont, Florida in 1992. There,
Michael continued his successful career at Clermont High School, Groveland High School, South
Lake High School, and Windy Hill Middle School as a coach and mentor for future generations.

Mike was very committed to his faith and community. As an active member of the Catholic Church,
he served as Minister of Hospitality, Eucharistic Minister, and various leadership roles for the
Knights of Columbus including Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, District Deputy, Regional
Membership Chairman, and State Youth Activities Director.

Above all, Mike was a beloved husband to Joyce, an incredible father to Kyle and Aaron, and an
adored "Grampy" to Aidan and Haylee. His spirit will continue to be a source of inspiration and love
for his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament in Clermont on Friday, April 19th
at 11 AM, with visitation starting at 10 AM. Arrangements are being handled by Becker Funeral
Home.
