Obituary

Michael Lindsay Benton, born March 21, 1955, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, with his wife and daughter by his side.

Growing up in Roseburg, Oregon, Michael developed a deep love of learning and was an honor roll student. He was particularly gifted in English and grammar. In high school, he began studying German and immersed himself in German Club, a passion that led him to study abroad for a year in Stuttgart, Germany, during college. He fondly recounted stories of the lifelong friendships he formed and the adventures they shared. His travels throughout Europe sparked a love of exploration that stayed with him for the rest of his life.

Although Michael studied to become a teacher, he began working in the insurance industry shortly after graduation. His career relocated him from Roseburg, Oregon, to Boise, Idaho, in 1981. He worked for AAA Oregon/Idaho for 35 years before retiring in 2017, where he was respected for his integrity, attention to detail, and dependable presence.

Michael married Judith “Judy” Evans in April 1985. They welcomed their only daughter, Lindsay, in December 1987. Michael was deeply intentional about being a loving and steady husband and father. He took immense pride in raising his daughter with patience, integrity, humor, and kindness. Being her dad was the greatest joy of his life.

In September 2024, Michael, Judy, and Lindsay embarked on a grand family adventure, moving from Boise to Clermont, Florida. Together they explored their new home and enjoyed many days at Walt Disney World, embracing the magic and making treasured memories as a family.

Michael was a kind and gentle soul who truly “saw” people and met them where they were. He loved making others smile – and a good laugh made his day. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
