Obituary

Merle Moose, born 8/3/28 in Harney, Maryland to Chester and Hannah (Hoffman) Moose. He was married for over 70 years to the love of his life Mabel (Brown).  They had two daughters, Cheryl Deuley (Tom) and Wanda Payton (Dave). They also had 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He had a variety of jobs throughout his life ranging from procurement at Martin-Marrietta Aerospace to taking care of his citrus trees.

He was first and foremost a family man. He and Mabel moved from Pennsylvania to Groveland Florida in 1957 and lived in the area for over 60 years. They were very active members of Zion Lutheran Church and later Edge Memorial United Methodist Church.

He and Mabel loved to square dance, play cards with friends and family, bowl,  travel and garden

He enjoyed people and delighted young people by standing on his head, even up until age 80!

Although living in Florida, he stayed close with family and friends up north. He planned a trip every other year to go back and visit. On the off years he expected family to come visit Florida. There are so many wonderful memories from all those trips and visits!

Merle was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Hannah, his brothers Mark, Frank, Ray and Dale. He is survived by his sister Arlene Brewer and brother Gene Moose.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Edge Memorial United Church Choir or Alzheimer's Association.

There will be private family services at Greenwood Cemetery, Groveland.
