IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Megan Agatha
Ogle
December 16, 1936 – January 29, 2025
Megan Agatha Ogle
Megan was born to Adolphus & Mildred Gibson on December 16, 1936 in Georgetown British Guiana (when they gained their Independence it was then recognized as Guyana).
In her school years Megan attended St. Barnabas Primary school in Georgetown, Guyana.
Megan joined the British Guyana Police Force in 1957. She was one of eight women that was the "first women" to live in the police barracks while in training. Megan was in training for many months. Upon completing training school Megan was assigned WPC No. 61 Gibson. She was then assigned to the "force control" (police force switchboard).
Megan met Randolph (Rannie) Ogle - they courted, fell in love and married on September 19, 1959. They married in the village where the "entire village" came to see who was the first to get married in the newly built church. After many years of Rannie and Megan serving in the British Guyana Police force, they decided to migrate to America (Brooklyn) to begin a new journey, learn all that they could and prosper. Megan came to America first with her cousins Shirley Dowden and Avril Bouyea. Though it was not easy – she started and built a "solid" foundation and Rannie came to America thereafter. From this blissful union came two beautiful daughters Althea and Denise. Megan's perseverance and hard work took her to join Citibank where she ultimately became the Vice President. After working many many years at Citibank she decided to semi retire. Randy and Megan packed up the house, packed up the girls and moved the family to Maryland. Once in Maryland Megan got a little antsy and decided she really was not ready to retire. She joined the Stock Brokerage and Securities Firm Dean Witter, where she worked for several years until she then decided…she was ready to 100% retire. At this point Rannie and Megan were ready to travel and make memories for their two girls. They traveled to many different places exposing their two girls to many different experiences. Rannie and Megan lived simple lives and lived as such until Rannie was called to gain his wings. After the passing of her husband, Megan decided to volunteer at her church – St. Mathias where she was happy to assist in anything that was needed - in which she did for many months with no hesitation. She did not miss a Monday.
Megan was someone who encouraged and valued peace. She was compassionate, giving, caring and would help anyone in need.
Megan is preceded in death by her parents AT & Mildred Gibson; her husband of 64 years Randolph "Gibbo" Ogle and her oldest brother Ulric Gibson (Sister-in-Law Rosemary Gibson). She will be forever missed by her two daughters Althea Ogle and Denise Smith (Brian); her youngest brother Ivelaw Gibson (Jean); her grandchildren Rashawn Arnoux, Brian Smith Jr., Derrick Campbell, Nakia Smith, and Larry Smith. Her great grandchildren DaMarrion, Vicky, Milan and Hasani; her nieces Laverne Mensah (George), Carolyn Gibson, Michelle Meeks (Sam) and Shaundell Ogle; her nephews Clairmont John, Leland John, Bobbie John and Allister John; Brother-in-law Buvell Ogle and Sister-in-Law Carol John.
