Obituary
Matthew Ryan Mitchell was born on June 3, 1986 in Bluefield, West Virginia. He was the youngest of three children. As a child, Matthew excelled in all sports, especially baseball and basketball. Matthew loved playing outdoors, riding four wheelers, and breaking all the rules at a young age. Matthew attended Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, Virginia. After high school, Matthew went on to join the US Navy. He aspired to be like his grandfather who was also in the Navy. After his tenure in the US Navy, Matthew returned to Northern Virginia where he used his Navy mechanics and training to work on vehicles. In 2008, he welcomed his first son Nathan. Matthew loved spending time with Nathan, while still focusing on advancing his future.
Over the years, Matthew studied and worked to advance his professional career. Despite setbacks, Matthew attended college and was able to obtain a successful position with PC Construction. While starting and establishing his career, he met his soulmate, Lacie. Matthew and Lacie were married in Alderson, West Virginia in 2014. From the marriage, Matthew became a girl dad to a four-year-old, the couples only daughter, Regina. In September 2014, the couple welcomed a son named Duke. The family relocated to Florida in 2015.
Shortly after becoming a resident of Florida, Matthew and Lacie welcomed their fourth child, Kingsley, in 2018. It wasn't long after, Matthew purchased his first Harley motorcycle. While finding roots in Florida, Matthew became a member of the local Moose Lodge and the Moose Riders Club. As a member of any organization, Matthew always made sure he could contribute to the success. In Florida, Matthew received several promotions and became a Lead Senior Foreman at Wharton-Smith Inc. As Matthews knowledge grew, so did his career. Matthew soon accepted a position with Phillips & Jordan Inc as the Florida Area Superintendent. At Philips & Jordan, Matthew was a firm leader, and a "great boss and admirable" as described by so many.
Matthew preceded into Heaven the morning of September 26, 2022, as a result of a motorcycle crash. Matthew is survived by his wife, Lacie Mitchell and four children, Nathan, Regina, Duke, and Kingsley Mitchell; his mother, Thressa Mitchell of Mascotte, FL; his sister, Jessica Berko of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his brothers, Eric Mitchell of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Justin Combs of Raleigh, North Carolina; his sisters-in-law (Lauren, Shana, Nicole, Lenora, Shantelle, Caroline, and Mattie) and a special brother-in-law Drew Sweat; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many close friends.
