IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary
Torres
July 11, 1956 – July 29, 2024
Mary Torres of Clermont, Fl, born on July 11th, 1956 (Bucaramanga, Colombia) passed away on July 29th, 2024 at the age of 68 years old. The daughter of the late Ramiro and Marina Torres. Mary was the youngest of seven siblings.
A graduate of Southwest Miami Senior High School, then went on to graduate with an Associates Degree in Mortuary Science at Miami Dade Community College and also graduated as a Surgical Technician while she lived in Miami, During this time Mary worked at Aero Components Sales and Service (a family business). In Miami and in Central Florida, Mary worked as a mortician in several Funeral Homes, and as a Surgical Tech in a couple of hospitals before settling in Clermont at South Lake Hospital (Orlando South Lake Hospital), where she worked as a surgical tech. There she was blessed finding a family environment with many of her colleague's. Mary retired from Orlando South Lake Hospital after working with them for over 20 years.
Our lovely sister Mary is survived by her sister Lucy (Richard) Stanley, brother Alonso ( Cookie) Torres, late brother Ramiro (Margo) Torres, sister Elizabeth (late husband Bruce "Shorty") Rich and partner Colin Hampton, sister Yolanda (Philip) Quallo, and brother Jerry Torres (late partner Oscar Herrera). Mary was very fortunate to come from a very large family of 17 nieces and nephews, 32 grand nieces and grand nephews, and 6 great grand nieces and great grand nephews. We will all miss Mary very much. Mary is also survived by her much loved and best friend, her 4 legged fury "baby boy" as she called him, Parker, a Dashhund, which meant the world to Mary.
Mary had a silly (sometimes kind of sarcastic) side to her. Her quick wit would catch people by surprise, putting everyone to tears in laughter. Her memorable witty t-shirts brought attention to everyone. Mary looked forward to seeing everyone's reactions to her funny (sneering) remarks on her t-shirts. Mary was direct but with a heart of gold, She was on top of birthdays, special events, and gatherings. She loved giving gifts and purchased them with a genuine affection. Mary also kept in touch with most of her many friends of many years. She was always concerned and ensured they were doing well. She had a huge heart.
In honor of Mary, we will be holding a "Celebration of Life" on September 7th, 2024 in Clermont.
