Obituary
Kathy was born in Battle Creek, Michigan but grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Mercy High School in Chicago in 1965. She married Bernard Schuman in 1966, and they moved to Japan where he proudly served in the United States Air Force. From Japan, to Illinois, to New York, back to Illinois and finally to Florida, Kathy was a loving wife, a nurturing and selfless mother and a proud grandmother. She courageously battled cancer for over twenty years teaching us all about true strength and perseverance.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Reed. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bernard, and her children Richard (Traci) Schuman of Apopka, Florida and Tracy (James) Pekarek of Edina, Minnesota. She was a devoted grandmother to Max, Cory, Madeline and Hannah. Kathy is also survived by her siblings Patricia Tracy, Edward (Barbara) Reed, William (Kathy) Reed, James (Bea) Reed, Donna (Steve) Skiniotes, Robert (Theresa) Reed, Eileen (Mark) Geisler and Cheryl (Jeff) Lockard.
A graveside inurnment is scheduled for Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:00am at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513.
