Mary Boyd Cothron, 87, formerly of Sumter, SC passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in Clermont, FL. Mary was born on August 24, 1923 in Sumter, SC, the daughter of Tully W. and Edell (nee Barkley) Nicholes. She was a resident of Clermont for the past 3 years, previously living in Texas. She served in the U.S. Army during World War II and afterwards worked in several professions most notably as a seamstress. She was a Christian.
Mary is survived by her children, Paula (Martin) Wood of Hendersonville, TN, Donna Parker of Sumter, SC and John (Chantel) Cothron of Clermont; siblings, Agnes Jackson and Ray Nicholes both of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Martin Wood, Jr., Amanda Kessler, William Parker, Amanda Cothron, Michael Cothron, Joshua Toohey, Jordan Toohey and Jeremy Cothron and great grandchildren, Ethan and Emily Kessler, Addison Wood and Emmalee Cobb.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Leah, Claude, Francis, James, William and Richard.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 23rd in Clermont. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
