Marvin Ehrlich Wilson, age 94, passed away on October 31, 2017 at Brookdale Clermont. Son of Maude & Toby Wilson, he was born on April 30, 1923 in Swainsboro, Georgia. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where he still has family, and served in the United States Navy during the Pacific Ocean Theater of World War II. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he moved to Washington, D.C. where he met, through mutual friends, his lifetime love, Mary Elizabeth Catterton. They married in October 1947 and were blessed with 66 years together before her death in 2013. After a brief time at Lorillard Tobacco Company in Miami, Marvin began his 35-year career as an insurance agent with Independent Life. He and Mary relocated to Clermont, Florida in 1975 and were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Clermont. Over the decades they enjoyed over 30 cruises and spending time with their extended family. Marvin especially enjoyed his time as a private pilot and rescuing numerous dogs and cats around the neighborhoods.
In addition to his beloved wife, Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie (John) McGuire of Clermont. Surviving is his son Mark (Valery) Wilson of Orlando; grandchildren Lynn (Scott) Enos, Laurie (Allen) Frederick, Sandra (Chuck) Watford, Sara Winkler, Matt Wilson, and Cindy (Dan) Lewis; great-grandchildren Chip and Laura Watford and Caleb Lewis. He was adored by many and will be missed.
Visitation for Mr. Wilson will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Becker Funeral Home (806 W. Minneola Ave., Clermont, FL 34711), followed immediately by a memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM. Reverend Ben Bond will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Following the graveside service, a reception will be held at 801 City Grille (801 W. Montrose St., Clermont, FL 34711) beginning at 3:00 PM.
