Marvin Matthew Schmidt, age 94, Groveland, passed away July 30, 2019. He was born September 4, 1924 in Tampico, IL son of Agnes Phillips & Matthew Schmidt. He proudly served his country in the US Army & was combat wounded in Germany during WWII & thus a Purple Heart recipient. Marvin was an auto mechanic for a number of years before becoming a building inspector, from which he retired.  He was an avid pool player at the Groveland Senior Center & was known as "Marvelous Marvin." His wife Sophia preceded him in death as did his sister Elaine Newman. Surviving are his sons Kenneth Marvin Schmidt, Auburndale; William Edward Schmidt & wife Brenda, Cocoa & Lawrence Paul Schmidt "Larry" & wife Sharron of Groveland; numerous grand, great & great-great-grandchildren.
