Obituary

Marion "Dan" Ferris, 87, of Groveland, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Garland Averill Ferris and Virginia Lee Ferris, his twin sister, Mary Ann Ferris, his brother, Billy Joe Ferris (Barb), and his son, Garland "Kent" Ferris (Paulette). He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Aleen Adkins-Ferris, his daughter, Sheila Dial of Groveland, FL and Timothy Dial of Clermont, FL, his grandchildren, Todd Dial (Megan) of Ft. Myers, FL, Brittany Toledo (Cipriano) of Clermont, FL, and his great grandchildren, Colin Richmond Dial, Samuel Ellis Toledo and Noah Adriano Toledo. He had many more parents, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and friends that he had designated as family, that are too innumerable to list here. He loved them all.

He was known, first and foremost, as a worshipper of his Savior, Jesus Christ. There was never a minute of the day that he was not worshipping His King with his heart, mind and soul. He is honored to now be a member of His choir that has a rather wonderful view at this time, with His son standing next to him. He was a war veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War. His ship was the USS Salem 139, the Admiral's ship during the war. He was trained by a master barber on the ship. When he left the military, he completed his schooling for barbering at the Moler Barber School in Cincinnati, OH. He was a barber in Huntington, WV for 41 years. At the age of 12, he started attending church, and he was saved and baptized shortly afterwards. He started singing in school and then continued on at church. He later became the worship leader at that same church; however, he ministered to people through singing through-out the years in many other churches, funerals, weddings, nursing homes, hospitals and everywhere. He never stopped using this gift for the Lord to bring joy. His music has always been known for being perfectly lined up with the heart of God. He genuinely loved people as God loves people. He enjoyed painting for relaxation throughout the years. His greatest joy was to be with his family. He loved being with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His best days was being with them.
