Obituary

Marilyn Sloan passed away peacefully in her sleep in Clermont, Fl on the morning of September 4, 2023 after a lengthy illness. Marilyn was born in Carbondale, Pa and raised in Forest City, Pa by her parents Joseph and Cecelia (Fallon) Walsh. Her parents raised her in the Catholic Faith and she remained a devout Catholic throughout her life. After graduating from Forest City High School in 1951, Marilyn worked at Daystrom in Scranton as a stenographer and secretary. This is where she met her husband, Henry D. Sloan. Marilyn and Henry were married in 1954 and enjoyed 47 years together until Henry's passing in 2001.  After their marriage they started a family and resided in Forest City and Clarks Summit, Pa until they relocated to Reading, Pa in 1959. Marilyn raised four sons; Marshall, Daniel, Kenneth, and David.

In the early 1970's, Marilyn returned to work as a secretary, working in the nursing office at Community General Hospital in Reading. Beginning in the early 1980's Marilyn and Henry became snowbirds and enjoyed Winters in Florida until Henry's passing. In 2017 Marilyn relocated to Clermont, Fl to live her final years with her son David.

Marilyn will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, a trusted friend, a loving wife but above all a wonderful mother. Her family was her passion in life. Marilyn was the epitome of integrity, always fair, honest and kind to everyone. You will live in our hearts forever.

In addition to her husband, Marilyn was predeceased by her son Daniel Sloan,her brother Gerard Walsh, and a son-in- law Dennis Heck

In addition to her three sons, survivors include four grandsons; Daniel,Travis,Adam, and Alex., nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial and interment at Gethsemane Mausoleum, Laureldale, PA will be held in the Autumn.
