IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie Ciaschini
Voorhees
August 16, 1930 – December 5, 2025
Marie C. Voorhees, passed December 5, 2025. She lived to be 95 years old!
Marie was born on August 16, 1930 to Lucy (Battistoni) and Anthony Ciaschini in Springfield Massachusetts. She was married to Donald Voorhees on July 4, 1952.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two children J. Ross Voorhees and Toni D. Voorhees and her sister Sandy Langone.
She is survived by her three grandchildren Dashiell, Aurelia, and Nicholas "Oscar" Voorhees and a great-granddaughter Veronica Voorhees, along with her sister Norma Kozaka, nieces, nephews and friends.
Marie's life was full of adventure. She grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts with younger twin sisters. She worked her first job as secretary at Stone and Webster, where she met the love of her life, Don, with whom she would share over 70 years together. They shared the same birthday and celebrated their anniversary on the 4th of July. They would travel all over the world together and raise their children at various work posts, notably in Brazil, India, and Jamaica. Later in life, She would become a devoted grandmother and pass on many family traditions.
Marie loved to listen to Boston Red Sox games on the radio and watch Tom Brady play with the New England Patriots. She loved Frank Sinatra. She was a very good bridge player and enjoyed challenging herself when watching jeopardy. She loved to show off her flowers when they bloomed and catch the sunset over Lake Minnehaha. She adored her neighbors in Margaree Gardens and the community it gave her. She enjoyed sending letters to friends and never missed the chance to send a birthday card. Marie was exceptionally generous and touched many lives with her charity.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please send donations to Shriners Hospital, the organization that provided Marie life altering care as a child so many years ago.
