Obituary

Marie Annette Marshall was born Marie Annette Fuschich on January 1, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas to John A. Fuschich, Jr., and June M. Fuschich. She was the seventh of nine children with four sisters and four brothers: Irene Hall, John Fuschich III, David Fuschich, Carol Dawson, Dianne Warner, Sharon Barch, Peter Fuschich, and Paul Fuschich. Marie is survived by her eight siblings, husband, Deane Marshall, their children, Sharon Bradley, Charles Marshall, and Catherine (Katie) Carter, and four grandchildren.

Marie's father served in the Air Force and as a young girl, she lived in both San Antonio and Japan. After returning to San Antonio from Japan, she attended local public and Catholic schools for grade school. Marie had a beautiful singing voice and was a proud member of the Marian Choristers at Providence High School.

In 1978, Marie began the big adventure and signed up for service with the United States Navy, a commitment she cherished throughout her lifetime. She completed basic training in Orlando, Florida then was sent to Great Lakes Naval Station where she began medical training for the Hospital Corps. During this training she met Deane and they fell in love while exploring Chicago on the weekends. After corps school, Marie was sent to Patuxent River Naval Air Station and she and Deane continued to date long distance. After a tour in Guam, Marie joined Deane at the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps base and on April 9, 1983 they were married at the base chapel.

After many awards, commendations, and perfect evaluations, Marie attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Marie was granted a rare early retirement in 1995 and finished her Navy career in Honolulu, Hawaii. After time in Dallas and Virginia Beach the family eventually found a long time home in Clermont, Florida in 1999.

While in Florida, Marie finished her degree in nursing and started her career at South Lake Hospital, then transferred to the Villages Medical Center. She finished her nursing career with Coram services, where she attended home bound patients who needed IV therapy for cancer and other long term chronic illnesses.

In her Navy career, nursing career, and in her family life, Marie loved with all her heart and gave all she could. She was a devout Catholic and loved our Lord, Jesus Christ. She could talk to everybody - she had an amazing ability to find common ground with anyone she met and always had a kind word to give. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a hearty laugh. As a mother and wife, and in every walk of life, she was friendly, kind and loving. She will be greatly missed and impossible to replace.
