Obituary
Margaret M. Krone (Messina) of Clermont, FL and formerly of Schenectady, NY passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017. She was 102 years old. Born in Schenectady, NY on July 27, 1915 Margaret lived in Schenectady and Rotterdam for most of her life. Since September 2012, she was residing at Superior Residences in Clermont, FL. Her parents were Angelo and Felippa (Conti) Messina, who had immigrated from Sicily.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, James J. Krone, in 1999; brothers Joseph Messina and Anthony Messina; and sisters Rose Ottaviano, Carmela Smart, Angela Wade and Ida Dobies.
She is survived by her sons, James R. Krone (Linda) of Clermont, FL; William Krone (Christine) of Lady Lake, FL; and Donald Krone (Olga) of Lake Placid, NY; grandchildren, James Krone (Amy) and Joseph Krone (Ly); great grandchildren Jillian and Megan; sisters Helen Brauner and Mary Valente and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret, who attended Mont Pleasant High School, worked at General Electric during World War II and later at Pleasant Valley Meat Packing Company. An avid gardener, baker and cook and a voracious book reader, she was a longtime member of the Rotterdam Democratic Club and served as a bus tour hostess at the Rotterdam Senior Citizen Center. For decades, she was a communicate of St. Gabriel's Church in Rotterdam.
Burial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
