Luis De Leon, 57, of Clermont Florida passed away on August 5 th , peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.
Luis was born December 4 th , 1961 in Havana Cuba. He immigrated to New Jersey in 1970 and became the first in his family to earn a bachelor's degree when he graduated from Rutgers University. Luis married his loving wife of 25 years Arlene (Holding) and they moved to
Freehold New Jersey where he resided for 6 years with their 3 children before moving to Clermont Florida in 2006.
He was a loving father and dedicated to being involved in his kids' lives, taking pride in attending all his children's sporting events, performances, etc. as a coach or spectator. He loved to take his family on unpredictable adventures. His favorite things to do were going to the beach and working outdoors in his tropical garden. He always believed in taking the scenic route to enjoy the ride. He was well-known for his big heart and going out of his way to help people in need with his selfless acts of kindness. He was recognized as a great boss. He will be missed by all.
Luis is preceded in death by his father Luis De Leon. He is survived by his mother, Dalia De Leon, his wife Arlene Holding De Leon and three children, Marcos, Claudia, and Ava De Leon. His sisters Eva (Robert) Martinez and Vivian (Jorge) Sargenton, niece Jacqueline (Dan) Devito, father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Margaret Holding, sister-in-laws Louise (Brian) Ahern and Julie (Robert) Chwalk, and brother-in-law Gary (Zoe) Holding. He was also loved so much by all his nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday, August 8 th 5-8pm at Becker Funeral Home, Clermont Florida, with Funeral Mass Friday, August 9 th at 1:00 pm at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Clermont Florida.
Thank you to all the friends and family who helped Luis and his family through his courageous battle with cancer. A special thank you to Father Bob, and Jorge Nichar, Meg, Bridget, and Vicky of Compassionate Care for their kind hearts and support. And thank you to Becker Funeral Home for your exceptional kindness during this difficult time.
