Obituary

Ms. Lucy Marie DiToma, age 86, of Clermont, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, at South Lake Hospital. Services were private. Ms. DiToma was born in Canastota, NY on June 27, 1928. She graduated in 1946 from Canastota Central High School, where she was captain of the cheerleading squad and also played basketball and field hockey. She moved to Clermont in 1957 and has been a resident since. She spent her years working in the hospitality sector, where she won numerous awards. In 1988, she was named the Days Inn, Lake Buena Vista Employee of the Year. In 1996, she was named the Tollman-Hundley Hotels, National Employee of the Year. In 2002, the Central Florida Hospitality Association named her the Central Florida Hospitality person of the year, and in 2005, Double Tree Hotels named her their Employee of the Year. Her final 38 years of work were at the same location, where she finally retired from bartending in February of 2013, at the young age of 84. She was an avid lover of college football and would watch games all day, every day they were on. She enjoyed cooking and housecleaning. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Annette Augustine Sicilia, Father, Sam Sicilia Sr., and Brother, Sam Sicilia Jr. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jean Alessi & her husband Bill Alessi of Verona, NY; Son, Paul of Clermont, who was at her side at death; two granddaughters, Angela DiToma Finn of Lexington, KY and Annette DiToma of Georgetown, KY; two great grandsons, Tristan Finn, a Senior at the University of Kentucky, and Michael Finn, a Freshman at the University of Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to do so may donate, in her name, to the Outward Sign Charity (for people down on their luck), at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 720 12th St, Clermont, FL 34711
