Lucille D. Gross, 88, of Clermont died Monday, November 10, 2014 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born April 19, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, PA the daughter of the late Ewald M. and Mildred M. Dietrich. In 1946 she married Paul Gross, Sr. and in 1961 after his retirement from the U.S. Army, the family moved to Clermont. During this time she raised a family and began working as a teller for 1st Federal Savings and Loan Association. She continued to work in the banking industry and retired in 1991 as the Branch Manager for Carteret Savings and Loan. After retiring she started the next phase of her life. She traveled with Paul all over the U.S. in an RV. They visited many National Parks and friends they had met during their life. She loved to travel even after the death of Paul in 1996. There was no place too remote or exotic for her to visit. She traveled the world from Africa to Australia and several times to Europe. Lucille had many other interests. She loved the game of golf, and playing golf and was active in the Green Valley Women' Golf Association. During her life she had 3 holes-in-one. Lucille was also a talented quilter and designed and created unique quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid bridge player and also an accomplished duplicate bridge player. She enjoyed hosting or playing at party bridge games with her friends. Lucille was very generous with her time. She volunteered at the Cooper Memorial Library for many years. As a long standing active member of the South Lake Presbyterian Church, she served in numerous capacities including Elder. She was always available to help her friends and neighbors in time of need. Of all her interests, Lucille loved her family the most. She was always an active participant in their activities, whether it was a trip to the Outer Banks or a holiday celebration. When Lucille' daughter-in-law Lyn suffered several strokes in 2003 she temporarily relocated to Virginia for 4 months to support her rehabilitation and recovery. Lucille leaves two sons to cherish her memory, Paul Jr. (Lyn) of Springfield, VA and Bob (Cyndy) of Charlotte, NC. She has four grandchildren, Shannon (Jason) Holt of Raleigh NC, Courtney (Matt) Wallace of Raleigh NC, Brad (Sarah) of Raleigh NC, and Matt (Megan) of Cumming GA. She is also survived by 9 great grand children. In lieu of flowers, Lucille requested donations be made to South Lake Presbyterian Church or Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday November 21, 2014 at South Lake Presbyterian Church, 131 Chestnut St., Clermont, FL with Reverend Drew Marshall officiating, followed by a reception in the church parlor.
