IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lourdes Capistrano
Hickman
August 29, 1939 – September 20, 2020
Lourdes "Ludi" Hickman (81) of Clermont, FL, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on September 20, 2020. Formerly of West Chester, PA, Ludi is predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Robert B. Hickman. She is survived by the father of her children, Cesar Olegario Sr.; her son, Cesar Olegario Jr. and his wife Rizalyn, of Las Vegas, NV; her daughter Lisa Black and her husband Chris, of Windermere, FL; grandchildren Corbin and Gerard Olegario and Piper and Brodie Black; and her last living siblings Judge Dionisio N. Capistrano and Cecilia Fiel.
The youngest of six children, Ludi was born in Manila, Philippines to former Supreme Court Justice Francisco R. Capistrano Sr. and his loving wife, Marina N. Capistrano. After completing her college education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Assumption College in Manila, Ludi married and moved to the United States in 1968, where she worked for the Sierra Leone Consulate at the Pan Am building in New York as an Administrative Assistant. After moving to Pennsylvania, Ludi eventually remarried and pursued building her Administrative Assistant career with companies such as Sega, Stouffers Hotel, General Motors and United Airlines. Supporting the United Airlines Inflight Services Team at the Philadelphia International Airport was always one of her career highlights because she absolutely loved to travel. She had always wanted to be a flight attendant…but she always lovingly noted that she was height challenged. Ludi's colleagues often described her as "one of the nicest people I've ever met," "…the glue that held things together at the Philadelphia hub," "She was adored and is absolutely irreplaceable," "She set the tone for our wonderful, friendly base."
Bob and Ludi finally retired to Clermont, Florida, where she had fun working for the Disney Reservation Center and for Universal Studios. She eventually became a leasing consultant at Grandview Apartments before finally deciding to slow down and enjoy her community and friends. Her retired life included participating in the Summit Greens Theater Group where she played Bloody Mary in the musical Bali Ha'i, and she also enjoyed her time with the Red Hatters. Her love, her spark, and her humor will be missed by all of her family and friends.
A funeral service and Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020 at 11am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont, Florida. Burial services will continue at Florida National for close family at 1:30pm. Masks will be required at the services.
