Louise H. Foster (nee Henderson), one of the former owners of Radio Station WSNJ in Bridgeton died Sunday morning June 21, 2020 at the Superior Residences in Clermont, FL. She was a resident of Clermont since 1992 and prior to that lived in Bridgeton. Mrs. Foster was 90.
The wife of the late Irvin F. Foster, who died in 1995, they were married for over 38 years at the time of his passing. Louise was born in Bridgeton on February 15, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Russell S. and Alice Rice Henderson.
She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School and a graduate of Hood College in Frederick, MD.
Louise was the co-owner of WSNJ/WSNJ-FM radio station in Bridgeton with her husband Irvin. She had numerous roles and duties including daily broadcasts for over 30 years. She was well known as the "Bird Lady" for her daily call-in-show focusing on her love of backyard birding and she had a daily public service show called the "Community Calendar." She retired in the 1980's.
She was a devoted member of the Pearl Street Baptist Church in Bridgeton where she served as choir director and organist. She was also a member of the Fairton Christian Center where she was a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God and served on the pastoral staff. She taught weekly Bible study groups at the church and also led Bible study extensively on a county-wide cable TV ministry.
Louise was also an author, she wrote "The Eternal Marathon," a book dedicated to her journey of faith.
She is survived by two children, Russell E. Foster and his wife Susan L. of Kutztown, PA and Alison L. Ferrell and her husband Stephen J. of Howey in the Hills, FL, grandchildren, Jennifer L. Mathieson and Kyle R. Foster, great-grandchildren, Nathanial, Noah, Jackson, Riley and Savanah and a sister, Elaine H. Cortelyou.
The interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
