Obituary

Lisa M. Brown (Toomey) 1980-2023 Clermont, Florida.

Lisa M. Brown (Toomey), 42, gained her angel wings in the comfort of her home following a four-year courageous battle with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer on August 18, 2023. She had her loving family at her side and was surrounded by her friends while her favorite music was playing.

She was born on September 25, 1980, in New Hartford, N.Y. The daughter of James and Mary Jo Toomey. Lisa was a 1998 graduate of New Hartford Central School.  She later attended Utica college studying child psychology. She was a graduate of Herkimer County Community College with a degree in Radio/TV broadcasting.

Lisa was employed at local radio stations in her hometown as a DJ. She had an infectious broadcasting personality. After attending a college program at Walt Disney World, Lisa moved to Florida and began her 20-year career with the Walt Disney Company, where she recently worked as a Systems Manager.

Lisa was an amazing woman with a beautiful smile, charming personality, and huge heart. Her smile and laugh were contagious and would brighten the day of anyone she met. She was loved by many. Lisa had a way of drawing you in with her infectious smile and laugh. She always had a way of making strangers into friends, friends into family, and family into warriors.

She loved spending time with her girls, husband, and family. They enjoyed spending time at Disney and watching sports together. She built a village of amazing friends who enjoyed playing softball, kickboxing, holiday parties, golf cart parades, and amazing family cruises.

Lisa married her best friend, Christopher Brown on March 25, 2007, in an outdoor venue in Orlando, Florida. They built their life together and were blessed with two beautiful, caring, and loving daughters.

Lisa is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Christopher; her daughters, Jasmine and Janelle; her parents, James and Mary Jo Toomey; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Holly Toomey; her nephews, Trent and Todd Toomey; her father and mother-in-law, Johnel and Kathy Brown; brother-in-law, Cody Brown; her canine companion, Bella; her Aunt Teresa Bankert; Great Aunt Catherine Loreti, and several cousins and friends; too many to mention.

Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph and Mary Romeo; Pauline Toomey; Uncles, Paul Toomey & Dale Bankert; her great "Romeo" aunts and uncles; and her feline, Mickey.

Lisa was the Florida State Captain and Ambassador for #LIGHTUPMBC.

She worked tirelessly to be open about her journey and battle with fighting Stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer. Her goal was to make everyone aware that we need to bring more awareness to raise critical funding in hopes of helping raise funds for research, support that will lead to advances in treatment options, quality of life and survival of patients diagnosed with Metastatic breast cancer.

Lisa fought her battle openly, publicly and with an unbelievable inner strength. She truly was the most caring, kind-hearted warrior until her last breath.

Lisa was and always will be loved by so many. Her beautiful smile and wishes in her final days were to "Please keep fighting!"

In her memory, please consider a donation to METAVIVOR or donations can be made for a college fund for Jasmine and Janelle.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all of Lisa's medical providers, nurses, and most recently to the physicians, nurses and staff at ORMC in Recovery, ICU, Intermediate Care and Oncology units for the care and compassion you provided her.

A special thank you to Lisa's team of caregivers, Jim and Holly Toomey, Andrea Thomas, and Joelle Hutchins for the love, care, and comfort you provided to Lisa in her final days.
