Lida Rose Dixon Brown, 91, of Clermont, Florida, passed away on December 24, 2019. Lida was born on December 29, 1927 in Linton, Indiana. She was a graduate of Mt. Clemens High School in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. She attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland.
Lida met and married Ron McEwen, who was employed by the Department of Defense Intelligence Service. It was during his tenure with the Air Force that Lida became an Administrative Assistant within the military. Her marriage and career allowed her to travel throughout the United States and also overseas. Following the loss of Ron, Lida moved to Florida in 1990 and lived in Casselberry. She then moved to The Villages, Florida, in 2000. It was there, she was introduced to Norval Brown, who played in a Senior Men's Softball League. Norval and Lida married on September 21, 2009.
Lida enjoyed traveling and discussing her "around the world" experiences with family and friends. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors. She participated in her local book club and loved to read. She gave back to her community by volunteering as a tutor for middle school students who struggled with reading. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Clermont. Good restaurants, great friends, devotion to family, her spiritual life and activities through her church (First United Methodist Church, Clermont) were all priorities.
Lida has left a legacy for her family and friends. Throughout her life, she mirrored generosity, caring, and concern for others. Her elegance and grace brought warmth to those around her. She loved the Brown family and was an integral part of their lives. She brought great joy to Norval, his family, and to many friends who were fortunate enough to know her and to be blessed with her love and friendship.
A quote from Maya Angelou describes Lida's lasting legacy . . . "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Lida's grace and beauty will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
Lida is survived by her loving husband, William Norval Brown, and family Terry L. Brown (Diana B.), Cynthia L. Brown, Diana H. Brown, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
