IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leon Louis
Sturk
September 29, 1952 – September 5, 2021
Leon Sturk 68 of Clermont, FL, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2021 with his loving family by his side, after a valiant fight from a recent illness.
Leon was born September 29, 1952 in Haverhill, MA. Leon is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 44 years and their three children, Robert (Heather) Sturk of Mascotte, FL David (Melissa) Sturk of Davenport, FL and Julie (Michael) Fisher of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren who were the highlight of his life, Michaela, Gavin, Brayden, Austin, Aubrey and Annabella. Leon was so excited about the arrival of his 7 th grandchild in December, who will also be his namesake. Leon is also survived by three brothers, Roland, Peter and Jeremiah Sturk
Leon had an illustrious career as a retail executive for many years. His many positions included a Sales Director for Best Buy in Eden Prairie Minnesota and a Vice President for Linen N Things in New Jersey. Sixteen years ago he embarked upon a career change and started a new career with Horace Mann Insurance Co as an insurance agent and financial planner. This would later become Sturk Insurance Agency.
Over the past 16 years Leon became a well-known and respected part of the Osceola County School District. His life's work was to support, dedicate, and inspire those in the school systems as a business partner and most of all friend. He could be seen most days feeding the teachers his infamous meals, donating to the teachers/staff/students, handing out his purple pen (staple he leaves behind), but many remember him through his memorable laugh and infectious smile. Over 600 people have followed his story and life through a "Love for Leon" page created on Facebook by his daughter. The outpouring of prayers, good wishes, and love he received in the months leading to his passing has been truly inspiring and comforting to his family.
In Leon's spare time he would be seen tending to his beautifully kept garden, spending time with his wife Nancy, but most of all he loved being with his family. He was epitome of a "family man". He could be seen at his granddaughter's recitals, his grandsons football games, or walking the main street of Magic Kingdom. He was a Disney passholder and never missed a chance to go on rides or meet a Disney Character all while spending that quality time with his grandchildren. Many Saturday mornings he could be seen with his infamous Starbucks coffee in hand and his poodle companion in his lap, Pumpkin. He leaves behind a true legacy in his passing. His smile, love for life, and dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed. We are all inspired to "live like Leon."
Family and friends are invited to attend his calling hours at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont Florida on Monday, September 13 between 6-8 pm. Funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14 at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont, Florida.
