Reverend Leo Green, 76, passed away October 19, 2013, with his family by his side at South Lake Hospital in Clermont, Florida. Reverend Green was born February 28, 1937 to William and Mae Green. He was an active member at Ferndale Church of God after ministering his own independent church for several years in Astatula, Florida. God had a calling on his life. At a very early age, he fell out of a boat and the only thing that saved him, because he didn''t know how to swim, was his clothing got hooked on a nail on the outside of the boat. Leo was a dreamer like Joseph in the Bible. He wanted to bring his dreams to reality. That little stubborn streak that his family talks about helped him to work hard in accomplishing what he set his mind to. Leo (with his wife, Viola, right by his side in building their business) was successfully self-employed in the construction industry and also earned his ministers license. While Leo may not have received his high-school diploma, he received and gained so much more?life' wisdom, which the Bible calls supreme. He loved riding out in his pasture on his John Deer tractor. He always said "I talk to God while I''m out there". He also loved singing about God and His goodness. His favorite song was "The Anchor Holds", and he loved to sing in church "The Lighthouse". He and his family, many years ago, had their own Christian singing group and performed on the Sunrise Jubilee television program. Mr. Green is survived by his wife of 58 years, Viola; 2 sons Leo Paul Green, Jr., (Tracey), Lake Yale, FL; Mark Green (Audrey), Clermont, FL; 3 daughters Leona (Tony) Christopherson, Mascotte, FL; Linda (Phillip) Partain, Hartwell, GA; Sharon (Joe) Neece, Loganville, GA; son-in-law Charles Mack, Astatula, FL; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his youngest "Rosebud" daughter, Lisa Mack Green. Leo deeply and greatly loved his family and devoted so much of his time to them. He loved having a large family. He also carried the mantle for his family, always encouraging them and guiding them in God' love. Because of his sweet spirit, he showed God' love to everyone his path crossed. While his children were growing up, he loved to take them fishing in Cocoa, Florida and always planned yearly vacations with them to enjoy fun family time together. He has made many unforgettable memories with his family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Becker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Astatula Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home also on Wednesday from 10-11 AM.
