Lawrence Franklin Thompson May 11, 1933 ? February 1, 2015 Clermont, Florida ? Lawrence (Larry) Franklin Thompson, 81, died Sunday, February 1st, 2015 at his home in Clermont. He leaves his sons David, Daniel and Russell and their families; his 3 Grandchildren, Dakota, Casey and Chantel; his brother Dan and his family; his sister-in-law Merle and her family and nieces and nephew Karen, Lori and Brian. Larry is preceded by his wife of 42 years Judith (Judy) Anne Thompson (Hollebeck), his parents Robert and Mamie Thompson, his Brother Bob and many close friends. Born and raised in Big Beaver, Michigan, he attended Royal Oak High School and met his first love Judy. After High School, Larry Joined the Army and served out of Fort Benning in Georgia. Once completing his service, Larry went to college where he received a bachelor degree in business from Michigan State University. Following his graduation, Larry began work with Caterpillar Inc. where he remained for 38 years. In 1987, Larry and Judy acquired their vacation home on Siesta key and later retired to Clermont. Larry enjoyed sports, was the quarterback of his high school team, learned how to play golf at an early age and continued this passion throughout his life. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. More than anything, besides Judy, he loved to dance, talk, tell stories, and make people laugh. He loved life and sharing it with others. Memorial Service will be held this Saturday, February 7th, at 2:30 PM, Siesta Key Chapel 4615 Gleason Ave. Sarasota, FL 34242. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Larry' Memory.
