Lawrence James Powers, 71, Leesburg, passed away September 27, 2011 at Health Central in Ocoee. He was born August 22, 1940 in Cortland, NY son of the late Stanley & Verna Conklin Powers. He served in the Air Force for 9 ½ years being discharged as a Staff Sergeant and was a retired Corporate Pilot & Trainer in the aviation field. On April 15, 1986 he was united in marriage to Sheila Day in Leesburg. He attended Open Door Baptist Church, was a 32degree Master Mason, was a member of Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association and a former Southern Baptist Deacon. Surviving is his wife Sheila; children Stacey (Jeff) Deavenport, Broken Arrow, OK; Steven (Summer) Powers, Oklahoma City, OK; Lance (Eleanor) Powers, Keller, TX & Jarrod (Kelli) Powers, Stillwater, OK; step-daughters Debbie (Jeffrey) Herndon, Vero Beach & Lorie (Ray) Durham, Palm Coast; grandchildren Jeffrey & Stefani Deavenport; Aaron & Nathan Powers; Holden & Lillian Powers; Leah Powers; Cory & Chase Raynor ; Jason Herndon; McKayla Raynor & Chelsea Durham; siblings Linda (Tim) Combs, Fruitland Park & Richard (Allyson) Powers, Hollywood, FL; nieces & nephews.



The funeral service for Lawrence Powers will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Open Door Baptist Church in Minneola. Pastor Bruce Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the funeral home.
