Obituary

Lawrence (Larry) Lennox, Sr, 88, of Clermont, Florida died March 27, 2023 at The Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, Florida.

He was born on September 4, 1934 to Melvin and Mamie Lou Lennox.

He married Loretta Yustock on September 24, 1955.

In his younger years Larry was an avid ice skater, traveling and performing with the Ice Cycles across the United States. Upon returning home he became a part-time ice-skating instructor. His passion for ice skating is something he was able to share with his children, bringing great joy and memories to his entire family.

Larry and Loretta (Lee) moved their family from Clifton Heights, PA to Florida in 1974.

Larry had over 25 years of sales experience prior to entering the real estate profession, where he truly found his niche. His resume included Broker, Salesman, and Supervisor positions with Real Estate One Commercial, Lake County Land Company, and Central Florida Real Estate Corporation. These jobs ultimately led him to Lennar Homes, where he worked as a New Home Consultant, selling homes in King's Ridge until retiring in 2002.

Larry was an active member of the community. He held several positions within the Clermont Chamber of Commerce, including: Vice President (1991-1992), President, (1992-1993), Treasurer (1994-1995), and Membership Coordinator (2003-2004). He also served as Vice President (1993-1994) and President (1994-1995) of the United Chambers of Lake County. And from 1994-1996 he was President of the South Lake Economic Development Council and sat on the Board of Directors for the South Lake Kiwanis club from 1997-1998. Larry was instrumental in the growth and development of Lake County, working on projects such as the Turnpike/Highway 50 interchange, as well as the groundbreaking of Lake-Sumter State College.

Larry was known for his quick-wit and one-liners. Some family favorites include his notorious way of answering the phone "this is me, is that you?" and commemorating every Independence Day by saying "celebrate with a 'fifth' on the fourth."

Larry is survived by his adoring wife, Lee, his children, Mary (Michael) DeVitis, Lawrence (Larry), Jr, Michael (Amy) and Kevin (Katrina), his brother, James (Jim), his grandchildren, Christine, Jennifer DeVitis, Stephanie (Erik) Suarez, Danielle (Matt) Sanchez, Lee-Anne DeVitis, Megan (Alex) Kuklinski, Ian, Sheri, Kelly, Kaitlyn, Leah Darlak, Tyler Ouellette, Michael, Jr and great-grandchildren, Grace McCoy, Mckenzie Price, Aidan and Alexis Suarez, Ava Lennox, Clayton Oliver, Ellie and Jordan Sanchez.
