Obituary

Laurence Dominic "Larry" Michael passed away May 17, 2021 at South Lake Hospital in Clermont Florida from long-term complications of Diabetes surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born Oct 12, 1942 in Buffalo New York where he grew up and met his wife Edith (Beu) Michael. Larry and his family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1979 where they raised their family. While living in Charlotte, Larry worked for General Tire Company, he also owned his own cleaning business. Larry and his wife moved to Florida in 1995, he followed his passion and opened his own restaurant on Amelia Island, "Larry's Grille and Ice Cream Shoppe", a well-loved eatery by all the locals. After moving to St. Augustine in 2004, he worked as the Building Superintendent for Palmer Catholic Academy where he was lovingly known as "Mr. Larry" by all the students and faculty. Later on they moved to Clermont.  While living there Larry enjoyed having his own car detailing business, and was known for his pristine work and friendly conversations with his customers.

Larry was a faithful servant of the Lord; his faith was the center of his life.  Larry was known as "The Mayor", he never met a stranger.  His laugh, his love of people and zest for life was contagious to all that were around him. Larry was a member of the Corvette Club of Trilogy, and Vettes Are Us Club of Leesburg, Florida.  He had a love of cars from the classics to his passion of fast Corvettes.  Larry would often be seen riding with the top down in his red Corvette enjoying the warm Florida sun. Larry had a deep appreciation for golf; he was an avid golfer until his health complicated the ability to play. Most recently Larry poured his servant heart and love for people doing the Lords work by helping those in need and assisted with Meals on Wheels through his church First United Methodist Church of Clermont where he was a member. He also volunteered at "Faith Neighborhood" distributing food for the needy. Larry was a loving family man; well respected by his family.  Larry was always full of wisdom and led by example. He was the patriarch of his family and will be greatly missed.

Larry was met with the words of Matthew 25:23, His Lord said unto him "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord"
