Larry Wilson, 86, of Clermont, Florida, passed on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at home with his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM, and will continue through 4:00 PM at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont. During this service family and friends will have an opportunity – and are encouraged - to share and participate in celebrating the life of Larry Wilson.
Larry Eugene Wilson – known as “Pops” to his family - was born to Hugh and Verna Mae (Lyles) Wilson in Cleveland, Tennessee. He grew up in Cleveland, and graduated from Bradley County High School. Following high school, he worked and attended Lee College. During this period, he married his high school sweetheart, and the love of his life, Peggy Ingle. Together, they were joined in marriage for nearly 68 years, and had three children, a son (Tim) and two daughters (Kathryn and Karyn). Larry served in the Army National Guard.
Larry began his career in business working for Colonial Baking Co. and later Flowers Foods, Inc., working in multiple sales positions before being promoted to President, Flowers Baking Co. of Orlando. Larry retired from Flowers Foods, Inc. in 2005, after having worked in the bread industry for more than 45 years.
Following retirement Larry became an avid golfer and a member of the Kings Ridge Golf Club. Golfing became his vocation of choice. He was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, strength, humility, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He was passionate about his faith, his family, his country, and playing golf.
Larry is survived by his wife, Peggy Wilson; his son, L. Timothy (Nancy) Wilson of Springfield, MO, his daughter, Karyn (Steve) Richards of Montverde, FL; his six grandchildren, L. T. Nathaniel Wilson of Montverde, FL, Kathryn (Pedro) Rivera of Leawood KS, Elizabeth Wilson of Kansas City, MO, Kayla (Brock) Bryant of Orlando, FL, Katie Zelsman of Orlando, FL, and Jadon (Alexa) Zelsman of Montverde, FL; his great-grandchildren, Kit Elizabeth Bryant, Micah Lawrence Zelsman; his step-grandchildren, Rachael (Jack) Thomas of Clermont, FL, Sarah (Matt) Schwenneker of Clermont, FL, Philip Richards of Winter Garden, FL, Leah Richards of Groveland, FL, Aaron Richards of Winter Garden, FL; his step-great-grandchildren, Harper Thomas, Audrey Thomas, Jackson Thomas, Lukas Thomas, Lincoln Schwenneker, and Rowan Schwenneker; his brother, Jimmy (Joann) Wilson of Cleveland, TN, and sister-in-law, Gloria Wilson of Ooltewah, TN; and his nephews and nieces.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Verna Mae; his daughter, Kathryn; his brother, Glenn Wilson; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ira and LaRue Ingle; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Robert Kosky.
A person of deep faith, Larry found strength and peace in his relationship with God. He is now resting in eternal peace and living in the presence of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
