Ken went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 18, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 11, 1942, in Brighton Beach Brooklyn, New York. He was married to his best friend and love of his life Gerie Shaffer for 40 years. Ken had six children, Mark Shaffer (Bob), Adam Shaffer (Anna), Andrea Szigethy (Rich), Daniel Shaffer (Adrienne), Nicole Delverme (Roberto) and Elizabeth Shaffer. He also had eight beautiful grandchildren, Samantha Kinkopf (Philip), Matthew Shaffer, Julia Szigethy, Eden Szigethy, Abigail Shaffer, Angelie Shaffer, Michael Delverme and Violet Delverme. Ken also leaves behind his two brothers Larry Shaffer (Judy) and Michael Shaffer (Carmela). Ken was preceded in death by his loving parents Irving and Frieda Shaffer.
Ken worked in the shipping industry for over 50 years. Eventually running his own business with his wife and long-time partners Kay and Tony Lester who were also like family to him. He was well known in this industry and had many business associates who included him as a close friend.
Ken was a devoted husband and an amazing father and grandfather. He had a wonderful sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to joke around and make others laugh. Anyone who knew Ken knew how much he loved and adored his family, friends and his furry animals, Zoey, Georgie, Frankie and Teddy.
Ken lived life to the fullest, he loved to travel and visit the beach. He had many hobbies including playing poker, fishing and boating. His favorite thing to do as he got older was to spend time with his family on their new pontoon boat on the lakes where he lived. Ken loved music of all genres. He loved going to concerts and Broadway shows and had an amazing singing voice as well.
He had such a kind heart and would make friends with almost anyone he met within the first five minutes. He brightened up any room when he walked in, was a friend to many, loved by more and will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, September 17
th
at 2:00 pm at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont, Florida. Immediately following the service, we will go to Oakhill Cemetery for the Inurnment and blessing. At 4:00 pm, all of our family and friends are invited to join us at the Shaffer Residence in Clermont for dinner and fellowship. Details will be provided separately on the location.
