Obituary

Kathleen Mary Arnold Trofatter passed unexpectedly early Tuesday morning July 16, 2024.  There is no doubt that Katie was warmly reunited at the gates of heaven with her mom Amy and her sister Patti. She is at peace in their loving embrace and with her pup Captain sitting once again at her feet.  She leaves behind her beloved family: her husband Alan, her father William Arnold, his wife Phyllis, her brother Billy, her nephew Matty, and her cherished puppies Lola and Summer as well as her extended family: Dorothy Trofatter, Lea, Chris and Harper Adams, Lyndi, Jaye and Emelia Trofatter, Chad Trofatter and many other dear friends both near and far.

Katie was born and raised in Northampton Massachusetts on Fruit Street where she shared countless memories with her siblings and neighbors and friends who she loved like family. She entered this world dancing and laughing and smiling.  Her Dad said, "she never met a stranger".  It's very true.  She was so friendly and easy to talk with and perhaps that is why she was so very successful in her sales career.

Her childhood summers were spent with her parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins at her favorite place on earth: Hampton Beach. Among Katie's favorite memories in her life were the sights, smells and sounds of her childhood: Coppertone Suntan Lotion, KC and the Sunshine Band and The Carpenters, Bell Bottom Jeans and rollerskating, the indelible sound of skeeball and pinball machines along Ocean Boulevard, the feel of the salty warm summer air at the beach. In every season of life, the ocean called to her and soothed her soul.  She moved to the Seacoast of New Hampshire as an adult where she met, fell in love, and married Alan Trofatter.  They shared a decade of happiness together. In 2022, Al and Katie and their puppies relocated to Central Florida.  There, they found great joy in making new friends, building their new home where they watched sunsets from their backyard, and spending treasured time with her Dad.

Throughout her life, Katie was up for learning something new from dance classes and recitals as a child, to being a high school cheerleader, to becoming an esthetician, practicing pilates and yoga, and, in this chapter in Florida, even learning how to play golf.  She never liked the golf attire so she gave it up.  Katie enjoyed interior design, music, and attending concerts, especially, her favorite artist, Kenny Wayne Shepherd. She could often be found in her kitchen whipping up delicious desserts that were true works of art. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of nutrition information and skin and hair care products and she couldn't wait to share that knowledge with unbridled excitement.  And you could always count on Katie to bring her signature sunny smile, her bright light and her abundant laughter wherever she went.

Katie loved with her whole heart and soul. We are all the better for having her in our lives.  May we all honor her memory by being a little bit more like Katie.  May her memory be eternal.
