Joseph R. Wehner, 68, of Clermont, and formerly of New Milford, CT, passed away Saturday, May 20, ending a year-long battle against brain cancer after spending the day with his family. Joseph was born in New Haven, CT on May 22, 1948 to the late Joseph and Mildred Wehner.
He was a graduate of East Haven High School and the University of New Haven.
Joseph was a true family man and loved taking his wife and three children on family vacations, with Walt Disney World being their favorite destination and the beach a close second. Joseph also enjoyed his career as a mortgage officer where he made several life-long friends. When not vacationing or at the bank, Joseph could be found outside gardening, in the garage working on the next project to build or repair something, or watching movies with his family.
Joseph loved sports and enjoyed watching the New York Giants and attending New York Yankee games with his family. He could also be found sitting on the sidelines cheering his children on at their soccer, baseball, and basketball games throughout their childhoods.
His artistic talents were put to use over the years, including paintings hung around the house, school projects and science fairs, and amazing handcrafted toy boxes for grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.
His light hearted attitude and sense of humor could lighten the mood in any room.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 45 years Beverly, daughter Rebecca McCoy and husband Bryan McCoy, daughter Jennifer Wehner, and son Jeffrey Wehner and his wife Swetha Wehner. He is also survived by his four grandchildren – Emily McCoy, Natalie McCoy, Aanya Wehner and Sean Wehner.
